A case of impersonation was registered against a student for HSC exams on Thursday after the candidate's friend was caught writing the 3-hour exam at SNDT school on his behalf.
The V.P road police arrested the duo as soon as the centre incharge informed them about the issue. "Both of them have been arrested under the Article 419 of the Indian Penal Code, for cheating by impersonation ," said DCP P.R. Dighawrkar.
He, however, refused to comment on any further action against the student. The board is also yet to decide whether or not to allow the student from appearing for the remaining exams. " We can only decide once the police investigations are done with. Usually it depends on the type of complaint that the centre incharge registers with the police," said the chair person of Mumbai Division Board Vijaysheela Sardesai.
Normally, the board gives the student a chance to prove his innocence. If the candidate is found guilty, the board holds the right to debar the students form appearing for exams for the next three years. |
