India's first ever film festival dedicated solely to sports ,is slated to take place between March 2 and March 5. The Sport Movies and TV festival will have 80 films from 20 countries showcasing sports centric documentaries and feature films. Screenings for which will take place in Mumbai's Fun Republic Theatre in Andheri. Organised by the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs(FICTS) , Italy in association with Ten Films ,the festival recognises India's contribution to International cinema and sports.
It also represents India's entry into the grand finale of the Sport Movies and TV festival to be held in Milan for the coveted Guirilande d' Honneur Award. Festival Director Ritesh Sinha said " The idea is to celebrate the life and achievements of sportspersons all over the world. This year most films to be screened and foreign films, despite some Indian entries like Iqbal. But, we hope to have more Indian entries nextyear.
" The jury for the festival will comprise Michael Ferreira,Shobhaa De, Ranjan Kapoor, Sudhir Mishra and Sarika. "The Red Carpet premiere' a the festival is for directors who wish to showcase their film before a large audience .Some of the participating films in this section are On the Trail of The Eagle and 13th Floor.
