| The Badminton Association of India has finally buckled down to media pressure and included Chetan Anand in the Indian team for the Common Wealth Games in Melbourne. BAI Secretary LC Gupta said: "Chetan Anand was always an integral part of the team for the Games. We have chosen our best possible team. I have nothing more to say on this matter." Chetan expressed happiness over his selection but despite repeated requests refused to comment on the issue as to why his name was excluded in the first instance. Chetan's inclusion means Arvind Bhatt would have to make a way as national champion Anup Shridhar is an automatic choice. The BAI had to prune its 12 members lisr following a direcive from the Indian Olympic Association last week. Among women's B R Meenakshi was dropped.
